Active Takeoff can be set to allow multiple users to share a common network data folder.

This configuration should be set by a qualified network technician.

NOTE ABOUT ONEDRIVE : ONEDRIVE WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH ACTIVE TAKEOFF. PLEASE AVOID SETTING YOUR COMMON FOLDER ON ONEDRIVE.

To configure a common data folder, follow these steps :

Step 1 : Find or create a network folder which is accessible by all Active Takeoff users.

Step 2 : Map a network drive that points on the folder selected in step 1 for all Active Takeoff users.

Step 3 : Configure each Active Takeoff station by selecting the newly created map drive where the Data folder will be located.

  • Locate the "Change Data Folder" menu item in the System Tools menu to change the location of the data folder.

Active takeoff will display this window :

  • Click on the "..." button and select the directory chosen in step 1.

Step 4 : Restart Active Takeoff on each station to make the changes effective.

Active Takeoff will create a sub directory structure necessary to its proper operation. Each sub-directory can then be subdivided in further sub-directories for each user. The default directory when Active Takeoff is installed is :...\Documents\Active Takeoff. The Active Takeoff folder contains seven (7) sub-directories.

Important Note : Active Takeoff will not synchronize work performed by many users on the same project. It is not recommended to work simultaneously (two or more users) on a project.

Potential Network Problems : When working on a network, some network related problems can occur.

The most common known problems are :

  • Network path not opened when starting the computer.
  • Network place protected by a password.
  • Disconnected Network Drive.
  • No read or write permission.
  • Files missing or deleted by a third party.

These problems are local and are the responsibility of your network technician. Active Takeoff's technical support cannot solve these problems since they are external to the software.
